Smith, who works with stained glass, has put together a business plan to start a company that makes architectural signs. Create Boston will help Smith identify banks that can lend him the money to purchase a laser etching machine for $20,000, generating business for Vytek, a Fitchburg company that makes engraving machines. Smith will use the machine in his sign business and for his stained glass projects.

In place of our Lord and Savior, expect plenty of fish, childhood Godzilla drawings rendered in glass and copper, and a five-foot-high explosion of woozy circles commemorating the first use of ether during a medical procedure.
